Explanation of Birch Face Grades
C FACE VENEER SELECTED FOR ONE PIECE FACE, GENERALLY LIGHT AND EVEN IN COLOR. SOME SMALL, CLOSED PIN KNOTS AS WELL AS LIMITED BROWN STREAKS IS ALLOWED. NO VOIDS, PATCHES OR MINERAL STREAK IS PERMITTED. SURFACE IS SANDED SMOOTH.
D FACE VENEER SELECTED FOR ONE PIECE FACE, GENERALLY LIGHT AND EVEN IN COLOR. SOME SMALL, CLOSED PIN KNOTS AS WELL AS LIMITED BROWN STREAKS IS ALLOWED. UP TO 4 OPEN KNOTS OR VOIDS MAY BE CUT OUT AND REPLACED WITH A SAME SPECIES COLOR MATCHED “FOOTBALL” PATCHES. MINERAL STREAK IS PERMITTED. SURFACE IS SANDED SMOOTH.
E FACE VENEER SELECTED FOR ONE PIECE FACE, GENERALLY LIGHT AND EVEN IN COLOR. SMALL PIN KNOTS AND MINERAL STREAK ALLOWED. OPEN KNOTS AND DEFECTS ARE CUTOUT AND REPLACED WITH SAME SPECIES COLOR MATCHED “FOOTBALL” PATCHES. FACEIS SANDED SMOOTH.
F FACE VENEER GRADED OUT FROM C FOR SMALL DEFECTS AND MINERAL STREAKING. TYPICALLY HAS MORE “FOOTBALL” PATCHES THAN BB AND PATCHES MAY NOT BE COLOR MATHCED. SOME OPEN SPLITS UP TO .5MM ARE ALLOWED. FACE IS SANDED SMOOTH.

HIGH QUALITY BIRCH PLYWOOD CORE PLIES AND CONSTRUCTION

This is how High quality Birch normally looks, plies of consistent thickness, and free of voids. If voids do occur, they are usually very small

Defects are uncommon, but still possible in  Birch.

EXPLANATION OF RUSSIAN BIRCH FACE GRADES

These Russian birch face veneer grading are much different from Chinese birch plywood face grades.

if you don’t know white birch grading rules,that will be a problem for you to buy russia birchplywood ,especially don’t know how to grade them .

Chinese Birch plywood has different grades rules like B/C,B/D+,C/D ,D/E ,D+/E ,E+/F …..I don’t know how the inspectors grade them ,but sure the white birch plywood face grade is very subjective .

Don’t discuss the grade ,just enjoy the wood grain ….
