Estonia’s Export of Wood to Australia Increases by 80%
In the fourth quarter of 2017, Estonia exported 67,325 m3 of rough saws and shavings to non-EU countries, an increase of 28% compared to the same period last year. According to preliminary statistics from Eurostat, of the 35,724 cubic meters of production, nearly half of the products are delivered to Australian customers, which is equivalent to an increase of 80%. The volume of exports to the EU countries was 97,466 cubic meters, a decrease of 21% over the previous year’s exports. In the first quarter, exports fell by 16% from the previous year. In the second and third quarter, exports fell by 26% and 13% respectively. For the entire period of 2017, exports fell by 15% to 579,226 cubic meters. The number of deliveries to EU countries fell by 29% to 348,580 cubic meters. This decline was only partially compensated by a 20% increase in delivery to non-EU countries to 230,646 cubic meters.
