2001-2010: China has become the world’s largest wood-based panel producer, consumer and trading country
Entering the new century, China’s entry into WTO has made China rapidly integrate into the process of globalization and provided an excellent opportunity for our private enterprises to participate in international competition. With the deepening of forestry reform, capital globalization and property rights restructuring in the field of wood-based panels, overseas capital and private capital quickly entered various fields of wood-based panels production, and penetrated into the production equipment manufacturing and raw material forest base construction links, China’s wood-based panels equipment manufacturing industry began to enter the era of continuous press. In 2003, the continuous roll-pressing line of wood-based panels was localized, and in 2008, the continuous flat-pressing line was localized, and the production capacity of MDF increased rapidly. Most of the wood-based panels enterprises have been restructured into joint stock companies and limited liability companies. The whole industry has formed a diversified investment pattern with private capital as the main body. More than 10 wood-based panels enterprises, such as Jilin Forest Industry, Daya Science and Technology, National Building Construction and Yongan Forestry, have entered the capital market.
In 2001, the state gave preferential policies for VAT collection and refund to wood-based panels enterprises, such as fiberboard, particleboard and blockboard, which made full use of “three leftovers” and sub-small fuelwood in forest areas, providing a relaxed external environment for the survival and development of wood-based panels enterprises. With the market pull of real estate and downstream household industry, the wood-based panel industry has developed rapidly beyond the normal. By 2010, there will be as many as 10,000 wood-based panels enterprises in China, and the output of wood-based panels will exceed 150 million cubic meters, accounting for 40% of the global production of wood-based panels. In just a few years, China has become the world’s largest wood-based panel production, consumption and trade country.
