From January to October 2019, China’s top ten wood import source countries accounted for 80.75% of the total wood import, which were respectively: Russian Federation, New Zealand, Canada, United States, Australia, Thailand, Germany, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Czech Republic. Among them, Russian timber accounts for 30.58% of China’s total timber imports. Influenced by European storm wood and pest wood market in 2019, timber from Czech Republic and Germany experienced explosive growth from January to October, which also impacted other countries’ timber trade. It is expected that storm wood and pest wood in Europe will still affect the international wood trade pattern in the future.
