Melamine adhesives are adhesives based on melamine which give a thermosetting polymer in combination with a curing agent with acid to reduce pH.

The curing process may be performed both at room temperature and higher temperature depending on the application and performance requirements.  Generally melamine adhesives give very good water resistance and a light coloured glueline. Pure melamine adhesives give a very brittle polymer due to the high degree of cross-linking. Additives enhance the performance both with respect to the curing process, glueline performance and storage stability.
