Melamine Paper Plywood Lamination Types and INspection TIps

Melamine Paper Plywood are divided into direct Lamination and Non-direct  Lamination.

Non-direct lamination also called Re- lamination .

In the process of hot pressing of Melamine Paper Plywood, Burn Marks is the local part like grinding which is caused by uneven heating of triamine paper due to uneven bottom plate or uneven temperature of hot press.

The requirement of direct Lamination on the substrate is higher. The subsrates  are less internal voids and core overlaps in the substrate.  The melamine paper is laminated to the subsrate directly .

The Non-direct  Lamination is to laminate the  melamine paper on the EV wood VENEER first, and then on the base board plywood .

Difference 1: Different ways of laminating 

Direct  lamination , as the name implies, is to paste the decorative surface of the ecological board (i.e. melamine facing paper) directly onto the surface of the substrate of the board, thus producing the finished ecological board. This process has a high requirement for the base substrate , which is the requirement for the surface smoothness of the base substrate . The smoothness is not up to the standard, and the effect of the whole finished substrate  will be affected when directly pasted.

Therefore, the requirements of direct  lamination  for process and base substrate  are very strict, which greatly improves the production cost. However, the surface smoothness and hardness of eco-panels are much higher than those of other panels.

Re- lamination  is to laminate  melamine facing paper to 0.3 or 0.25 mm of technical wood veneer, different manufacturers may use different thickness of core material. Then the core material laminate ed with the facing paper is pasted onto the substrate board, and the requirement for the substrate board is far lower than the requirement for direct  lamination .

Difference 2: The temperature of veneer is different

Direct lamination  process eco-board: high temperature and high pressure are used to evaporate and evaporate the moisture generated during the lamination  process effectively to ensure that the moisture content is moderate, it is not easy to open, crack and deform in the later period, and the service life is longer.

Non-direct lamination  process ecological board: low-temperature cold-pressed veneer, moisture retained in the solid wood skin between the ecological board and the core. With the change of temperature, it is easy to appear ecological board rubber board cracking, substrate  surface deformation, and even rubber board opening and separating, which affect the life of furniture. After half a year to one year, the whole skin will fall off individually.

Differentiation 3: The base material of veneer is different

Direct  lamination  process ecological board: The requirements of direct  lamination  for process and substrate board are very strict, which greatly improves the production cost. Direct  lamination  ecological board requires high surface smoothness of the board. It is generally made of AA-grade core laminated by high temperature and high pressure. It’s very dense after opening.

Distinction 4: Different veneer paper.

Direct  lamination  process ecological board: ink paper is used. Ink paper has higher cost, more advanced technology and more stable and realistic color. Not easy to fade!

Re- lamination  process eco-board:

The color paper is used, and the price of the color paper is relatively low. After half a year, the surface of the color paddle paper used for the veneer board will fade gradually, disappear slowly, and the surface will not be dirty.
