Plywood QC Inspection Checklist : Part 35 Reference of Environmental Protection Standards for Domestic Wood-based Panels

According to China’s environmental protection standards, according to the concept of formaldehyde emission limit, the formaldehyde limit grade in sheet metal can be divided into three levels: E2 < 5.0mg/L, E1 < 1.5mg/L and E0 < 0.5mg/L. In our country, the plate can meet the E2 standard, that is, the E2, E1 and E0 grade plates can be called environmental protection plate, but due to the improvement of consumer awareness of environmental protection, now on the market there are more E1 or E0 grade plates.

E0 standard permits formaldehyde in sheet metal, but not more than 0.5mg/L. This is the case.

The upper limit and the lower limit should be the highest aldehyde content of wood itself (the aldehyde content of wood itself is generally 0.12mg/L-0.04mg/L), that is to say, the lower limit is 0.12mg/L.

Zero formaldehyde means no formaldehyde is produced in the process of production reaction and no pollution or harm to the environment is brought to the producers. Therefore, we can define “zero formaldehyde” as follows: the free aldehyde content in the board is less than or equal to the aldehyde content of the wood itself (generally 0.04 mg/L-0.12 mg/L). “Zero Formaldehyde” plate and E0 are not the same thing, “Zero Formaldehyde” plate is a level higher than E0 in principle.

Several Kinds of Plates Used in Family Decoration

The board can be roughly divided into 9 types, such as density board, particleboard, decorative panel, woodworking board, plywood, melamine board, laminated wood, pine board and formaldehyde-free straw board. However, due to the different requirements of families, the most commonly used boards in the market are woodworking board, laminated wood (fingerboard), as well as a small amount of melamine board, decorative panel (formwork board), density board, particleboard. Panels, decorative panels and plywood, family decoration can be purchased according to different uses of different kinds of plates.

They generally have a fixed size of about 2440 x 1200 mm, that is to say, about 2.88 square meters per sheet. Owners can roughly calculate how many such sheets are needed according to the actual number of sheets used by families. At present, most families only need to purchase woodworking boards and fingerboards, and from the environmental protection level, quality and practicability, woodworking boards and fingerboards are better than several other kinds of boards.

Wood board

The scientific name is blockboard. There are two pieces of veneer made by bonding and pressing the splicing board in the middle. It is composed of wood strips of the same thickness and different length arranged in parallel and joined together tightly. It is usually five-layer structure.

Usage: Making door cover, window cover or ceiling, and some closets.

Specification: Thickness varies from 1.2CM to 2.5CM. Home use should be 1.6CM to 2.0CM. If large cabinet doors are used, thicker ones should be used. From the environmental protection level, ordinary households can use E1 level, the price of which varies greatly with the price of grade and core material.

Environmental Protection Level: Large brands often have E1, E0, zero formaldehyde; small brands also have E2 grade plate.

Choose and buy: The splicing of wood core also has manual and machine splicing. Except for meeting the requirements of environmental protection, good woodworking board should have close wood core and no gap. This can be seen from the sawn section.

Glulam (fingerboard)

Also known as plywood, the market is commonly used poplar or Chinese fir with finger joints, incision joints and other ways of splicing together the board, the use of direct also known as finger joints.

Usage: The integrated sheet has high utilization rate and good processing performance. It can be directly manufactured into straight and curved shapes. It is natural and beautiful. It is mainly used to make cabinets.

Specification: Thickness is generally 18mm, but also 16mm.

Environmental Protection Level: Large brands often have E1, E0, zero formaldehyde; small brands also have E2 grade plate.

Selection: Generally speaking, good finger joints have fewer scars, uniform and round wood color, and compact joints. The price of plate without thickness is also different. The general thickness is 18 mm.

melamine board

The full name is melamine impregnated paper market wood-based panels. Paper with different colors or textures is soaked in melamine resin adhesives, then dried to a certain degree of curing, it is paved on particleboard, medium density fiberboard or hard fiberboard surface, hot-pressed decorative board.

Usage: It can imitate all kinds of patterns at will and has bright color. It can be used as veneer of various wood-based panels and timber. It has high hardness, wear resistance and good heat resistance. Smooth and smooth surface, easy maintenance and cleaning. Make cabinet frame.

Specification: Thickness 16-20mm

Unequal.

Environmental protection level: E1 and E2 are common.

Choose and buy: Check the side sealing situation, generally to reach 1-2 mm.

Decorative panel

Also known as the laminated panel, three splints, it is made of natural wood planing or rotary cutting into 0.2-1 mm thick thin slices, after splicing, pasted on plywood, fiberboard, particleboard and other substrates. This material has clear texture and natural color, and is a kind of advanced decorative material.

Usage: The decorative panels on the market are teak decorative panels, walnut decorative panels, southwest birch decorative panels, Maple decorative panels, Manchurian ash decorative panels, beech decorative panels and so on. It is generally used as a partition for visible part of cabinet.

Specification: Generally 2.6-3mm

Environmental protection level: E1 and E2 are common.

Choose and buy: The price of decorative panels varies greatly according to the material quality, so when the owners use decorative panels, they must make clear the material quality and grade of decorative panels in order to have a safe guarantee from the price and quality.

Particleboard

Also known as particulate board, bagasse board, wood or other wood-based cellulose materials made of debris, after the application of adhesives under the action of heat and pressure, synthetic wood-based panels, also known as debris board.

Uses: A small amount of wood panels as auxiliary materials, built-in cabinets and display cabinets. The main advantages of this kind of sheet are its price and low cost.

Specification: Particleboard according to product density: low density (0.25-0.45 g/cm3), medium density (0.55-0.70 g/cm3) and high density (0.75-1.3 g/cm3). Particleboard has many specifications, with 19 mm as the standard thickness. The commonly used thickness is 13, 16, 19 mm.

Environmental protection level: E1 and E2 are common.

Choice: Look at the cross-section first, the bigger the particles, the better, because the larger the particles, the stronger the nailing of particleboard. Second, look at the environmental protection level.

Density board

Also known as fiberboard, is a kind of man-made board or composite board. It is made of wood fiber or other plant fiber as raw material, urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives. Because of poor nail grip, it is not suitable for home decoration.

Usage: According to its density, it can be divided into high density board, medium density board and low density board. In foreign countries, particleboard usually refers to low density fiberboard. A small amount is used as auxiliary material for woodworking boards.

Specification: The general thickness is from 8 to 25 mm, because the different specifications of the brand are slightly different.

Environmental protection level: E1, E2, E0 all have

Selection: The surface of density plate with good surface cleanliness should have no obvious particles; when touching the surface with hand, it should have a smooth feeling; the surface of density plate should be bright and flat, and the harder plate must be inferior products.

Plywood

Also known as splints, industry commonly known as thin core board. It is made of three or more layers of 1mm thick veneer or sheet glue by hot pressing. Three or more layers of thin plywood, three-ply, five-ply, seven-ply and odd-number plywood, are made of logs cut into veneers or square planks and bonded with adhesives.

Usage: A small amount of auxiliary material for wood-working boards

Specification: Splint is generally divided into six specifications (1 centimeter is 1 mm), including 3 centimeter, 5 centimeter, 9 centimeter, 12 centimeter, 15 centimeter and 18 centimeter, with 21 centimeter and 25 centimeter.

Environmental protection level: E1 and E2 are common.

Selection and Purchase: The panel should not be damaged, bruised, decayed, knotted, cracked, indentated, polluted, rough and other defects; use sharp blades to pry plywood along the plywood layer, if the plywood layer is damaged and the wood is not damaged, the quality of the plywood is poor.
