- What can we do to increase the life of our plywood forms? We experience a lot of damage during stripping.
- Double-headed nails are helpful in reducing damage. Large numbers of nails or oversize nails should be avoided. If pinch bars are used to wedge forms loose during stripping, they may damage both the form and the concrete. Stripping should begin some distance away from projections to release pressures on projecting corners. Recessed forms will shrink away from the concrete if left in place long enough, thus simplifying form removal and reducing damage. Good care of forms between uses, including careful handling without dropping, not only prolongs their life but may improve stripping, because damaged forms are sometimes harder to strip.
