TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION ON ROTARY CUT VENEER

Oak, beech veneer

Species: White oak, beech

Quality Requirements: Grade A

  1. Face veneer in top quality. Light colour, slightly irregular grain pattern.
  2. knots not allowed
  3. flakes not allowed (for oak)
  4. discolorations not allowed
  5. sapwood not allowed

Grade AB:
Face/middle veneer in top quality for varnished or stained products. Light colour. Irregular grain pattern and slight colour

  1. streaks are allowed
  2. Small sound knots and holes up to 10 mm are allowed.
  3. sapwood not allowed

Grade B:
Large, sound knots and plugs are allowed in this grade. Face/backing/middle veneer. Light colour.
Variations in grain pattern and colour faults/streaks are allowed.

  1. sound occasional and blending knots allowed with diameter up to 4mm
  2. dark knots not allowed
  3. small flakes allowed (for oak)
  4. small discolorations allowed
  5. sapwood not allowed

Grade BC:
Like grade B, but 20 mm holes are allowed.

  1. knots allowed
  2. discolorations allowed
  3. sapwood allowed

GRADE C:
Middle/backing veneer for upholstered furniture components and board structures. Variations in colour and grain pattern are allowed. Sound knots are allowed, as are holes up to 50 mm.
General Requirements:

  1. rot, insects, wormholes, bark, shakes not allowed
  2. falling out knots, knot holes not allowed
  3. torn grain not allowed
Packing and Marking: Veneer is shipped on pallets. Each pallet has the label, indicating specie, dimensions of veneer sheets in the  package (length, width), overall quantity of veneers in pack.
Veneer bundles are shipped on pallets. Bundles on pallet are covered by polyethylene film.

Poplar, alder veneer

Species: poplar, alder

+/- 0.03 mm
+/- 10 mm
Quality Requirements: Grade C:

  1. sound knots with max. diameter 12mm allowed
  2. 3..4 dark knots with max. diameter 4mm per running meter allowed
  3. ray flecks allowed
  4. false heartwood allowed but not more than 20% of sheet area

Grade D:
Knots and knotholes to 2-1/2 –inch width across grain and ? inch lager within specified limits. Limited splits are permitted

General Requirements:

  1. rot, insects, wormholes, bark not allowed
  2. falling out knots, knot holes not allowed
  3. chemical discolorations, stains not allowed
