Study on VOC release characteristics of decorative particleboard for interior decoration
Abstract: with the enhancement of social environmental awareness, people begin to pay attention to indoor environmental quality, especially indoor air pollution. There are many factors that affect indoor air pollution, one of the important pollution sources is wood-based panel and decorative materials. Therefore, the research and control of VOC release from wood-based panel is an important measure to alleviate indoor air pollution. In this paper, poplar particleboard was used as the base material to study the effect of different facing materials and methods on the release of organic volatiles and free formaldehyde of particleboard, explored the VOC release components, release rules and influencing factors of veneered particleboard under different hot pressing conditions, evaluated the VOC release of veneered Particleboard in the process of aging, and predicted the VOC release of veneered particleboard. Starting from the surface coating process of veneer particleboard, the TVOC release law of particleboard under different coating process conditions was studied, the coating process was optimized, and its environmental protection performance was improved. Based on the statistical analysis of the experimental results, the overall properties of the coated particleboard were compared. At last, the VOC attenuation of particleboard with water-based varnish, alkyd varnish and nitrocellulose varnish is tested, which provides scientific suggestions for the production and use of particleboard for interior decoration. The conclusions are as follows: 1. Different facing materials can effectively block the release of VOC from particleboard. Among them, the barrier effect of PP veneer material is the best, the TVOC and free formaldehyde emission concentration of particleboard is the lowest, followed by melamine impregnated paper and veneer veneer material, and the TVOC emission concentration of water-based coating veneer particleboard is the largest in the production process. 2. Before veneering, 21 kinds of release components were determined, the main component was 2-ethylhexyl phthalate; after veneering, 15 kinds of release components were determined, the relative content of 2-ethylhexyl phthalate was 31.32% lower than that before veneering. 3. In order to minimize the VOC release of Fraxinus mandshurica veneer particleboard, L9 (34) orthogonal experiments were carried out on the gluing amount, the ratio of urea formaldehyde glue to PVAc, the hot pressing time and the hot pressing temperature. The optimum process conditions are as follows: 100 g / m2 of glue, 60:40 of urea formaldehyde glue and PVAc, 3 min of hot pressing time and 100 ℃ of hot pressing temperature. 4. In order to investigate the effect of different parameters on TVOC release of veneer particleboard, single factor experiments were carried out on the ratio of urea formaldehyde glue and PVAc, hot pressing temperature, gluing amount and veneer species. The results showed that the TVOC release and the initial release concentration increased with the increase of hot pressing temperature and glue application. When the ratio of urea formaldehyde glue to PVAc is 70:30, TVOC concentration is the lowest. 5. The VOC components released from veneered particleboard under different hot pressing conditions were analyzed. The results showed that the change of hot pressing temperature and time would change the VOC components of particleboard. The results are as follows: with the increase of gelatinization, the volatilization of alkanes and aromatics increased, while terpenes and 2-ethylhexyl phthalate decreased; with the increase of hot pressing temperature, the relative release content of alkanes and terpenes decreased, while the relative release content of aromatics increased; the most VOC component was found in pine veneer, α.- Pinene and other alkanes. The results showed that the release of VOC from Fraxinus mandshurica veneer particleboard decreased with time, and the release of alkanes decreased with time. The quantity is also reduced. The relative release content of terpenes is low at the initial stage, and increases with time. The relative release content of aromatic substances did not change much. 7. Through the analysis of the factors such as coating type, coating amount, coating method, aging time, moisture content and sand luminosity, the results show that the factors influencing the TVOC release of the coated particleboard are aging time, coating amount and coating type in turn. The results showed that the TVOC release increased with the increase of the coating amount. The change rule of the TVOC release was: tvoc30gtvoc25gtvoc20gtvoc15gtvoc10g; the TVOC release was different with the different coating types. The change rule of the TVOC release was: TVOC water paint atvoc water paint B ＞ TVOC nitrolacquer B ＞ TVOC nitrolacquer a ＞ TVOC alkyd varnish; the longer the storage time is, the less TVOC is released in the unit time of coated particleboard. 8. The VOC of the particleboard coated with water-based varnish, alkyd varnish and nitrocellulose varnish is tested. The results show that the environmental protection performance of the particleboard coated with water-based varnish is better than that of the particleboard coated with alkyd varnish and nitrocellulose varnish.
