Surface Bonding Strength of Particleboard and Fiberboard

Surface bonding strength refers to the ability of the surface layer of a plate to resist damage when it is subjected to a tensile force perpendicular to its surface. Excellent particleboard should be tested for its surface bonding strength, other particleboard and fiberboard are not tested.

Surface bonding strength is measured by milling an annular groove on the surface of the specimen. The circular area inside the groove is about 1000mm2. The special clamp head and the circular surface of the specimen are bonded together with adhesive, and then the failure test is carried out.

In formula B, the surface bond strength (MPa) of B-specimen;

The maximum load (N) of P-specimen when the surface layer is damaged.

The area of bonding between A-specimen and clamp head (mm2).

The surface bonding strength of particleboard is related to the density of the surface layer, the content of glue and the shape of particleboard.
