The rapid development of particleboard brings signals to the industry
In 2018, the largest particleboard production line in Asia was put into operation, with huge investment, top-level technical equipment and advanced wood-based panel production technology. The production of this particleboard production line will undoubtedly further increase the supply capacity of China’s high-quality particleboard and play a demonstration role in promoting the upgrading of the forestry industry.
In recent years, the state has intensified its efforts to protect the environment, strictly prohibited natural deforestation, and made more and more stringent use of planted forests. The imported timber resources are vulnerable to the policy of exporting countries, such as Myanmar, Russia, Malaysia, Gabon and other countries have issued cutting restrictions and export bans, making domestic timber prices all the way up, especially the log market momentum.
In this context, the industry of wood-based panels which rely on large diameter wood has been more and more affected, and wood-based panels such as particleboard, which can use various kinds of wood and even processed residues, have gained greater development space.
With the rapid development of particleboard industry in China, how to adopt advanced and applicable technology to reduce material consumption and energy consumption index is a common concern of the industry.
As the key process of particleboard production, hot pressing section directly affects the production efficiency and product quality of the whole production line. Different types of hot pressing equipment have different energy consumption and rubber consumption.
At present, the hot press used in particleboard production line has three forms: multi-layer flat pressing, single-layer flat pressing and continuous flat pressing.
1. Multilayer press is the longest and most widely used of the three presses, with the lowest efficiency, and the greatest loss in sanding and trimming. The single-line production capacity is mainly 30,000-100,000 m3 per year. Nowadays, multi-layer press has made some achievements in shortening the loading time and improving efficiency, reducing sanding amount by position control technology and studying large-scale pressing plate, and it has the characteristics of small investment and quick effect.
Multilayer press classes are divided into two types: single-width press and double-width press. Particleboard production is mostly single-width press, which uses push-pull plate loading. Its characteristics are sheet-by-sheet loading, prolonging the loading cycle. The maximum number of layers is about 20 layers, and the maximum single-line production capacity is 100,000 m3/a. In order to increase the single-wire production capacity of multi-layer press, two forms can be adopted, one is to increase the width of press or the other is to increase the number of layers of single-width press. No matter which one is adopted, car-type plate loading is needed.
Car-mounted single surface press can achieve 30 layers. In order to meet the rhythm of loading, it is necessary to complete the corresponding pre-mounted panel system. The characteristic of the pre-loading system is to refine and separate the traditional loading machine from its structure and function. The pre-loading machine is divided into two parts: the pre-loading machine and the fixed loading machine.
Pre-loading machine can realize multiple slabs entering into the loading system at the same time, which improves the loading speed. The lifting control of the hanging cage adopts the combination of elevator card and coder, which makes the lifting stable and precise; while the fixed loading machine is only responsible for the loading of the press, the rigidity of the frame is high, and the stability of the loading is good. Compared with the single-side press, the double-side press takes up space to produce particleboard. The market of multi-layer press particleboard with large investment and high investment cost is difficult to be accepted by users in the market of multi-layer press particleboard with small total investment.
2. Compared with multi-layer press, single-layer press has the characteristics of small sanding amount, small cutting loss and high efficiency. However, due to the limitation of press width, single-line production capacity can reach 80,000-100,000 m3 per year, and the investment cost is higher than that of multi-layer press production line of the same scale.
3. Continuous press has the characteristics of high production efficiency, thin pre-curing layer of wool board, small tolerance of board thickness and wide adaptability of board thickness. It is the mainstream of particleboard production line in the world today, with an annual output of 600,000 m3 per line. However, continuous press has the problem of large one-time investment. Considering investment cost and operation cost, small and medium-sized particleboard production line is not suitable for selection.
