Two wood-based panel standards were rated as the “most concerned standard” in China in 2021

Recently, two national standards, such as the classification of formaldehyde emission from wood-based panels and their products and the guide to indoor load limit of wood-based panels based on limit formaldehyde, which were led and developed by the woodworking Institute of the Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences, were rated as the “most concerned standard” in China in 2021 by China standardization.

The two national standards were officially issued by the State Administration of market supervision and the State Standardization Administration on March 9, 2021 and implemented on October 1 of the same year.

The national standard of formaldehyde emission classification of wood-based panel and its products stipulates the classification requirements, test methods and judgment rules of formaldehyde emission of indoor wood-based panel and its products, which is conducive to promoting enterprises to produce wood-based panel and its products with high environmental protection grade, meeting the needs of consumers for more environmentally friendly and greener wood-based panel and its products, and promoting the green development, industrial transformation and upgrading of wood-based panel and its products industry.

The national standard “guidelines for indoor load limit of wood-based panel based on limit formaldehyde” is mainly applicable to the load limit of wood-based panel used in indoor furniture, cabinet, floor and other wood products, which provides scientific basis and guidance for consumers to choose reasonable wood-based panel for indoor decoration, and is of great significance to protect consumers’ health, eliminate indoor environmental pollution and promote the healthy development of wood-based panel industry.
