Veneer quality control Part 6:Application of Continuous Hot Press Dryer Heated by Heat Conducting Oil to Dry Fast-growing Poplar Veneer

Thermal conductive oil is used as heat carrier in continuous hot-pressing drying of fast-growing poplar veneer, and the effect is good. The moisture content of poplar veneer (nominal thickness 1.7mm) can be less than 8% in 2 minutes. Dry veneer is basically flat, smooth, with uniform final moisture content and no tearing. The thickness of veneer is 5.3% and the transverse grain is 4.9%. The average bonding strength of veneer is 0.812MPa, slightly higher than that of convection drying veneer with mesh belt. The results show that this method is feasible for drying fast-growing poplar veneers.
