Vietnam’s exports of forest products grew the highest in the first quarter
According to the General Forestry Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, the export volume of forest products reached 922 million US dollars in March this year, raising the export volume to about 2.4 billion US dollars in the first quarter of this year, an 18% increase over the previous year. The export volume of forest products increased the most in the first quarter of this year among the export products with a value of US$1 billion in the first quarter.
Of the 922 million US dollars in forest products exports, timber and wood products exports amounted to 2.26 billion US dollars, an increase of 10% over the same period last year. The trade surplus reached 1.82 billion US dollars, an increase of 19% over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s main export markets of forest products are the United States, Japan, the European Union, China and Korea, accounting for 87% of the total export of forest products.
Recently, the Prime Minister of the Vietnamese Government has promulgated Directive No. 8 on the Task Measures of Wood and Non-Wood Forest Products Processing Industry for Rapid and Sustainable Development of Service Exports, which proposes that the wood and non-wood forest products processing industry should be developed into a leading manufacturing and export industry in Vietnam in the next 10 years, and that Vietnam should build a brand of wood and non-wood forest products in order to build Vietnam For the world’s wood products and non-wood forest products production, processing and export goals.
At present, Vietnam continues to achieve the targets of the 2019 Forestry Plan and continue to promote afforestation and afforestation.
