Vietnam’s exports of forest products increased by 16% in August 2019.
According to the data released by the Forestry Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, the export volume of Vietnam’s forest products exceeded US$1 billion in August 2019, an increase of 16% over the same period in 2018.
With the realization of export volume of forest products in August, the total export volume of forest products in Vietnam in the first eight months of 2019 is estimated to exceed 7 billion US dollars, which is 18.6% higher than the same period in 2018, accounting for 26.6% of Vietnam’s agricultural exports and 3.8% higher than the same period in 2008.
According to the data of the General Administration of Forestry, the United States, Japan, the European Union, China and Korea are still the main export markets of Vietnam’s forest products, accounting for nearly 80% of Vietnam’s total export of forest products.
In addition, the General Administration of Forestry also said that Vietnam’s afforestation area is about 136 million hectares, reaching 64% of the annual plan, equivalent to 91.2% of the same period in 2018. In August, the area of forest development was about 18,000 hectares, and the estimated output was about 1.68 million cubic meters.
