Nowadays, many people choose to use wooden doors when they have the choice to buy furniture and doors. One reason is that wooden furniture and doors can absorb moisture. Why does wood absorb moisture? There are many free radicals in the chemical components such as cellulose and hemicellulose, which constitute the cell wall of wood, and they have strong hygroscopic capacity under certain temperature and humidity conditions. The surface of the basic filament attracts the water vapor molecules in the air to it by the intermolecular force and hydrogen bonding force to form a layer of adsorbed water. The thickness of the water layer changes with the relative humidity of the air. When the thickness of the water layer is less than its corresponding thickness, the water vapor molecules are absorbed in the air to increase the thickness of the water layer. Wood is a kind of micro capillary porous body. There are super physical large capillary system and micro capillary system in wood. It has a high void and a large inner surface. The saturated vapor partial pressure on the water surface of the brain wall micro capillary is less than the water vapor partial pressure in the surrounding air. Therefore, wood has strong adsorption and capillary condensation. When the dry wood adsorbs water vapor on the surface of the basic filament, the concave meniscus is first formed in the smallest micro capillary, and the condensation phenomenon of the capillary is generated to form the capillary tube condensation water. The radius of the micro capillary tube where the water vapor condensation occurs is adapted to a certain relative humidity in the air. The lower the air humidity, the smaller the capillary radius of water vapor condensation. The moisture absorption process of dry wood is small, and the moisture absorption stable moisture content is more or less lower than the desorption stable moisture content under the same air condition. This phenomenon is called hygroscopic hysteresis. It is for these reasons that the wood will have a certain moisture absorption effect. There is also a reason why many families in the society will choose the whole wood decoration with more aesthetic feeling.
