Highlights of the itinerary
1) Polish Wood Resources
According to data released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the forest area in Poland has remained stable in recent years. As of 2020, the forest coverage rate in Poland was 29.6%, with a total forest area of 9177000 hectares. The main forest areas include the Tuhora Forest in the north, the Notts Forest, the Pis Forest, and the dense forests of Lower Silesia in the west, as well as the Sudeten Mountain Forest in the south and the Carpathian Mountain Forest in the southwest. Mainly pine and spruce, as well as oak, beech, birch, alder, and fir.
2) German Wood Resources
Germany currently has a forest area of 11.42 million hectares, accounting for approximately half of the country’s land area (49.1%). Germany is one of the countries with the largest forest coverage in Europe, and its forest resources are of great significance both in Europe and globally, mainly including pine, oak, spruce, birch, poplar, etc. Germany is one of the largest timber suppliers to China. According to Chinese customs data, in 2022, China imported 5.96 million cubic meters of German logs and 690000 cubic meters of sawn timber.
3) 2023 LIGNA Woodworking Machinery Exhibition in Hannover, Germany
Founded in 1975, it is a grand event of the world’s top woodworking industry and wood processing industry, and also the first woodworking exhibition in the world, providing an ideal platform for information exchange and knowledge exchange. LIGNA has become the most influential exhibition in the international woodworking machinery manufacturing industry, surpassing other exhibitions in terms of scale, exhibitors and visitors, as well as authority, professionalism, and transaction volume.

The exhibition began in 1959 and is held every two years (every single year). It is a global event aimed at furniture production and its raw materials. Currently, it is a renowned professional exhibition in the furniture and woodworking machinery manufacturing industry worldwide, with a range of exhibits ranking first among all similar exhibitions.
