7. DIMENSIONAL INSPECTION

Measurement equipment: Calibrated digital caliper, micrometer, steel tape, precision rule, straightedge, and diagonal-measuring equipment as appropriate.

Sampling: Measure multiple locations on each selected panel. For thickness, include locations near the corners and the center while avoiding damaged edges unless edge condition is specifically under evaluation.

Dimensional note: Do not apply a generic thickness tolerance to every panel. Sanded and unsanded panels, thickness classes, construction, and the governing standard may require different acceptance criteria. Record the actual measurement and the specified tolerance separately.

8. INTERNAL CONSTRUCTION & CORE QUALITY

Inspection method: Examine panel edges and, where authorized, inspect a representative cut section. Destructive sampling must be agreed upon before cutting saleable panels.

Defect classification

ClassificationExamplesDisposition
CriticalMisrepresented product identity; missing legally required compliance evidence for a regulated product; a critical defect explicitly defined by the buyerReject / Hold / Escalate according to the approved plan
MajorOut-of-tolerance dimensions; unacceptable delamination; excessive core voids; incorrect grade; significant face defects; failed required performance testReject or submit for buyer disposition
MinorSmall cosmetic defects that remain within the agreed grade and do not affect intended useAccept only if within approved limits

Note: This is a proposed QC classification, not a universal industry defect table. The buyer’s approved defect definitions and AQL sampling plan, if any, take precedence. AQL is a sampling-plan parameter, not permission to ship known defective panels.
