QUALITY INSPECTION REPORT

Report Number: QIR-LR-2025-6-26
Product Category: Living Room Furniture
Product Description: TV Stands / Media Consoles
Inspection Date: May 26, 2025
Inspection Lot Size: 200 Units
Sample Size: 20 Units (Randomly Selected)

1.0 Executive Summary

This report details the findings of a quality inspection performed on a batch of TV stands. The inspection focused on structural integrity, material quality, functional aspects, finish, and packaging. Overall, the batch was found to be ACCEPTABLE WITH MINOR DEFECTS. The primary issues identified relate to minor cosmetic finish flaws and inconsistencies in packaging. No critical structural or safety failures were detected in the sampled units. Full details and photographic evidence are provided in the subsequent sections.

Overall Result: ACCEPTED

2.0 Scope of Inspection & Methodology

The inspection was conducted according to ANSI/BPI-1200 Standard and internal quality control procedures. The 20 sampled units were visually examined, assembled, and tested for the following:

  • Visual Inspection: Finish, color, and surface defects.
  • Dimensional Verification: Check against provided product specifications.
  • Functionality Test: Operation of drawers, doors, and cable management features.
  • Structural Integrity Test: Stability, load-bearing capacity, and assembly security.
  • Material & Workmanship: Quality of wood, MDF, hardware, and coatings.
  • Packaging & Labeling: Condition of packaging, accuracy of labeling, and completeness of contents.

3.0 Detailed Findings

3.1 Materials and Construction

  • Primary Material: Particleboard (MDF) with PVC laminate finish.
  • Findings: The majority of units exhibited consistent material quality. Laminate was properly adhered with no significant bubbling or peeling. Edges were generally well-finished with no sharp burrs. The structural frames showed good alignment.
  • Non-Conformity: None major.

3.2 Surface Finish and Aesthetics

  • Standard: High-gloss walnut finish, as per specification SPC-LR-TV-GW01.
  • Findings: The color and sheen were consistent with the approved master sample.
  • Non-Conformity:Minor defects were found on 3 out of 20 units (15% defect rate). These include:
    • Two units with minor superficial scratches (< 2cm in length) on the side panel.
    • One unit with a slight color inconsistency on the back panel (not visible when placed against a wall).
    • See Appendix A, Photos 1-3.

3.3 Functionality and Assembly

  • Assembly: All hardware (screws, cam locks, dowels) was present and correctly packaged. Instructions were clear and diagrams were legible. Assembly was straightforward and all pre-drilled holes aligned correctly.
  • Load Test: Units successfully supported a test load of 50kg (110 lbs)—simulating a large television and ancillary equipment—for 24 hours with no signs of deformation or stress.
  • Stability Test: Units passed the stability test with no tipping under standard use conditions.
  • Features: Drawers opened and closed smoothly. Door hinges were adjusted correctly. Cable management cut-outs were present and correctly sized.
  • Non-Conformity: None.

3.4 Packaging and Shipping

  • Findings: Boxes were structurally sound with adequate corner protection. Product was sufficiently protected with foam caps and cardboard separators.
  • Non-Conformity: Minor defect. In 2 out of 20 units, the internal styrofoam cushions were cracked, though they still provided adequate protection. This is likely due to handling during transport to the inspection site.

4.0 Defect Classification

Defect DescriptionQuantity FoundClassificationAQL Level
Minor surface scratch2Minor (Class B)Within Acceptable Limit
Minor color variation1Minor (Class B)Within Acceptable Limit
Cracked packaging foam2Minor (Class C)Within Acceptable Limit

Based on AQL Level II (General Inspection Level), the number of minor defects found is within the acceptable limit for approval of the lot.

5.0 Conclusion and Recommendations

Conclusion: The inspected lot of TV stands meets the required quality standards for functionality, structural integrity, and overall workmanship. The minor cosmetic and packaging issues identified do not affect the product’s core functionality or safety and are within acceptable quality limits (AQL).

Recommendations:

  1. To Supplier: Feedback regarding the minor surface scratches and color consistency should be provided to the manufacturing team for process improvement.
  2. To Supplier: Review the packaging process to prevent foam cracks during transit.
  3. To QC Team: Continue with standard inspection protocols for subsequent lots, paying specific attention to surface finish.

Disposition: The lot is ACCEPTED for shipment.
