QC Report for American-Style Cabinets
Report No.: [QC-Report-20251219-HCM]
1. Basic Information
Inspection Date: December 19, 2025
Inspection Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Product Name: American-Style Cabinets
Client Information: [Redacted due to commercial confidentiality]
Supplier Information: [Redacted due to commercial confidentiality]
Remarks: Client has given consent for the public release of this QC report.
2. Inspection Scope and Standards
This inspection covers the comprehensive quality check of American-style cabinets, including but not limited to appearance, dimensions, structural strength, hardware installation, paint finish, functional performance, and surface flatness. The inspection is conducted in accordance with international cabinet manufacturing standards and the client’s implicit quality requirements for American-style cabinetry.
3. Inspection Process
Our QC team conducted a full-scale inspection on the batch of American-style cabinets. The inspection process included random sampling (sampling ratio: 100% for key appearance and structural items; 30% for dimensional and functional items), visual inspection, tool measurement, functional testing, and defect marking. Cabinets with severe processing defects were identified, labeled, and removed on-site. After the inspection, this QC report was promptly submitted to the U.S. client for delivery evaluation, correction, and replenishment assessment.
4. Inspection Results
4.1 Appearance Inspection
Qualified Items: The overall design of the cabinets conforms to American-style specifications, with consistent style details (e.g., decorative moldings, panel patterns) as required. The surface of the cabinet body (excluding paint defects) is free of scratches, dents, or stains. The edge banding is closely attached without detachment or warping.
Defects Identified:
- Uneven Paint Job: This defect, which rarely occurred in previous productions at this factory, was found on 12% of the sampled cabinets. The paint thickness varies across the cabinet surfaces, resulting in inconsistent color depth and uneven gloss, especially on the door panels and side panels. This defect is suspected to be caused by paint quality issues.
- Paint Bubbling: Associated with the paint quality problem, paint bubbling was detected on 8% of the sampled cabinets. Small air bubbles (0.5-2mm in diameter) appeared on the painted surfaces, mainly distributed around the edges of door panels and drawer fronts. Some bubbles have slight cracks, which may lead to paint peeling in the future.
- Minor Finish Imperfections: A small number of cabinets (3% of samples) have minor paint streaks and dust inclusions on the surface, which do not affect structural performance but are inconsistent with the required finish standards.
4.2 Dimensional Accuracy Inspection
Qualified Items: Most cabinets meet the specified dimensional requirements, including overall height, width, depth, and internal compartment dimensions. The deviation of key dimensions is within ±1mm, which is in line with the tolerance standard.
Defects Identified: 2% of the sampled cabinets have slight dimensional deviations in the cabinet body assembly, with a maximum deviation of 1.5mm, leading to minor misalignment when multiple cabinets are combined. This is a minor processing defect and does not affect basic use.
4.3 Structural Strength Inspection
Qualified Items: The cabinet body structure is stable, with firm connection of panels (screws and tenon joints are intact). The load-bearing capacity of the cabinet top and shelves meets the standard (can bear 50kg of uniform load without deformation).
Defects Identified: No severe structural defects were found. A small number of cabinets (2% of samples) have slight looseness at the joint of the side panel and the bottom panel, which can be corrected by re-tightening screws.
4.4 Hardware Installation and Performance
Qualified Items: Hardware components (hinges, drawer slides, handles) are installed in place, with consistent specifications and no missing parts. Hinges can be opened and closed smoothly (10,000 cycles without failure), and drawer slides slide freely without jamming.
Defects Identified: 3% of the sampled cabinets have slight misalignment in handle installation, resulting in uneven spacing between handles. A few hinges (1% of samples) have slight squeaking during opening and closing, which can be resolved by adding lubricating oil.
4.5 Functional Testing
Qualified Items: Cabinet doors and drawers close tightly, with no gaps exceeding 0.3mm. The adjustable feet of the cabinet can effectively level the cabinet body on uneven surfaces.
Defects Identified: No functional defects affecting use were found.
4.6 Environmental Compliance
Qualified Items: The cabinet materials (wood, paint) meet the U.S. environmental standards, with formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.05ppm and no harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exceeding the limit.
Defects Identified: No environmental compliance defects were found.
5. Defect Analysis
The key defects identified in this inspection are uneven paint job and paint bubbling, which are rare in previous productions of this factory. Through on-site analysis, these two defects are determined to be caused by paint quality issues (e.g., uneven paint viscosity, impure paint components, or improper paint mixing ratio), rather than processing operations. Minor defects such as dimensional deviation, handle misalignment, and hinge squeaking are caused by slight inconsistencies in the assembly process, which can be corrected through rework.
6. Handling Measures
- Our QC team has fully inspected all cabinets in this batch, labeled and removed cabinets with severe processing defects (mainly those with extensive paint bubbling and uneven paint that cannot be repaired).
- This QC report has been promptly sent to the U.S. client for delivery evaluation, including defect details, handling results, and suggestions for correction and replenishment.
- We have notified the supplier to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the paint used, adjust the paint mixing process, and take corrective measures to avoid recurrence of paint-related defects.
- For cabinets with minor defects (e.g., handle misalignment, hinge squeaking), the supplier will conduct rework and re-inspection before delivery to ensure they meet the quality requirements.
7. Conclusion
This batch of American-style cabinets has passed the comprehensive quality inspection except for the paint-related defects (uneven paint job, paint bubbling) caused by paint quality issues and a small number of minor assembly defects. Cabinets with severe defects have been removed, and minor defects can be corrected through rework. The delivery plan will be determined based on the U.S. client’s evaluation results, and the supplier will complete the correction and replenishment work in a timely manner to ensure the delivered products meet the required quality standards.
