1、 The common hot melt adhesive and PUR adhesive edge banding machines in China currently use hot melt adhesive. The common hot melt adhesives include polyamide hot melt adhesive, EVA hot melt adhesive, polyolefin hot melt adhesive, PUR hot melt adhesive, etc., of which the most commonly used are EVA hot melt adhesive and PUR hot melt adhesive. Generally, the process of sheet edge bonding is formed by evenly coating hot melt adhesive or PUR adhesive on the edge bonding strip and the sheet, and then hot pressing. In the traditional process, there are usually two difficulties in the process of edge banding: one is the ultra narrow edge banding;

The second is end sealing. In the process of using traditional hot melt adhesive for edge sealing, the adhesive and edge sealing strip are prone to appear obvious problems such as glue seam and insufficient bonding fastness, which are difficult to achieve the ideal effect of precision and beauty. The PUR glue is used for edge sealing, which can obtain higher bonding strength, better heat resistance and solution resistance, thus solving the problem of glue joint and also having higher waterproof performance.

2、 Activate edge banding technology Laser edge banding technology is not very common in the furniture field. The so-called laser edge bonding technology refers to that the laser generated by the edge bonding machine can instantly activate the laser polymer distributed on the edge bonding strip, and quickly fuse the edge bonding strip and the plate into one.

Laser edge banding has the following advantages:

  2. Glue free environmental protection;
  3. Save a lot of manpower such as gluing and trimming;
  4. The product quality is stable.

In the whole process, the laser concentrates energy to melt the functional layer with laser absorber, so that the reaction time is fast, the laser energy absorption rate and utilization rate are high, and the whole process is energy-saving and environmentally friendly. The joint strength between the special functional layer and the edge band is very high, just like a whole polymer. Therefore, laser edge bonding can be understood as only one “joint surface”, which greatly improves the durable joint peeling strength and water resistance. The laser edge bonding technology saves the gluing device, reduces the equipment maintenance cost and the labor cost of the post processing glue line. However, the laser edge sealing technology is not perfect, and there are also shortcomings, mainly manifested in the poor waterproof and moisture-proof performance, and the equipment and materials required by the laser edge sealing technology are expensive. Therefore, it is more suitable for some relatively high-end brand products.

At present, there are two kinds of edge banding belts for hot air edge banding on the market, one is the edge banding belt with a precoated adhesive layer, and the other is the edge banding belt with a functional layer like that used for laser edge banding.
