This grading system uses A (Premium) / B (Standard) / C (Budget) tiers based on safety, performance, materials, and compliance. It aligns with common industry standards (e.g., ETL, CE, ISO) and third-party testing benchmarks.
I. Grading Criteria (A/B/C)
1. Safety (EMF, Electrical, VOC)
- Grade A (Ultra-Low EMF):
- EMF: <1 mG at seated position (independent lab tested).
- Wiring: Twisted-pair/counter-wound, shielded PSU, grounded frame.
- VOC: AIHA-accredited; <0.3 mg/m³ at 60°C (no off-gassing).
- Electrical: ETL/CE certified; overheat/GFCI protection.
- Grade B (Low EMF):
- EMF: 1–3 mG at seated position (third-party verified).
- Wiring: Basic shielding, standard grounding.
- VOC: Passes basic emissions test; <1.0 mg/m³.
- Electrical: Certified; basic safety interlocks.
- Grade C (Standard EMF):
- EMF: 3–10 mG (tested at panel only; no body-level data).
- Wiring: Unshielded; minimal grounding.
- VOC: No independent test; may off-gas at high heat.
- Electrical: Meets minimum local codes.
2. Heating Performance
- Grade A:
- Max temp: 74–77°C (165–170°F); heats evenly (±2°C).
- Warm-up: ≤15 min (20°C → 65°C).
- Heaters: Carbon fiber (10,000+ hr lifespan); full-surround placement.
- IR wavelength: 5–15 μm (far-IR optimal).
- Grade B:
- Max temp: 66–71°C (150–160°F); evenness (±3°C).
- Warm-up: 15–25 min.
- Heaters: Carbon or ceramic; partial surround.
- IR wavelength: 6–14 μm.
- Grade C:
- Max temp: ≤60°C (140°F); uneven hot/cold spots.
- Warm-up: >25 min.
- Heaters: Ceramic rods; back-wall only.
- IR wavelength: Narrow band (7–12 μm).
3. Materials & Construction
- Grade A:
- Wood: Kiln-dried solid hemlock/cedar (6–8% MC); no plywood/MDF.
- Joinery: Mortise-and-tenon; stainless steel hardware.
- Glass: Tempered safety glass; sealed door (low heat loss).
- Lifespan: 15+ years; 5–10 yr warranty (parts + labor).
- Grade B:
- Wood: Solid hemlock (8–10% MC); minimal plywood in hidden areas.
- Joinery: Screwed; galvanized hardware.
- Glass: Tempered; basic seal.
- Lifespan: 7–10 years; 3–5 yr warranty.
- Grade C:
- Wood: Plywood/MDF with veneer (high MC); prone to warping.
- Joinery: Stapled; zinc-plated hardware (rust risk).
- Glass: Thin tempered; poor seal (high heat loss).
- Lifespan: 3–5 years; 1–2 yr warranty (parts only).
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Grade A:
- Certifications: ETL, CE, ISO 9001; independent lab reports (EMF/VOC/IR).

- Support: Lifetime technical support; in-home service available.
- Grade B:

- Grade C:
- Certifications: Local safety approval only; no independent testing.
- Manual: Minimal; no maintenance info.
