What are the characteristics of high-strength particle board?

The high-strength chipboard adopts the two section chipping technology combined with the drum chipper and the chip chipper. The chipboard produced by using this technology has rich size, and it is very easy to change the length of the wood chip. It can effectively use small diameter wood and save wood resources. The core layer of the board adopts long and irregular shavings, which changes the geometric shape of the original particle board core layer shavings. The surface layer uses fine shavings, forming a three-layer structure process of surface layer, core layer and surface layer. The density of high-strength particleboard is at least 10% lower than that of ordinary particleboard, and its static bending strength is at least 20% higher than that of furniture type particleboard. It is a well deserved “lightweight and high-strength” board. The irregular long flakes can significantly increase the bonding strength in the core layer of the board, and the screw force is also significantly improved, so the dimensional stability is better.

High strength particleboard vs ordinary particleboard

In terms of production technology, high-strength particleboard uses the same three-layer particle structure as ordinary particleboard, and the biggest difference lies in the length and shape of the core layer particle and the paving method. The particle length of high-strength particle board core layer is more than 50mm, while that of ordinary particle board core layer is only 10-25mm. High strength particleboard core particles are irregular in shape and have better adhesion, while ordinary particleboard particles are regular rectangles. In terms of adhesive, MDI adhesive with high bonding strength is used for high-strength particleboard, and urea formaldehyde adhesive is used for ordinary particleboard. The bonding strength of high-strength particleboard is higher.

Production Process of High Strength Particleboard

(1) Material selection. The raw materials of high-strength particleboard can be large diameter wood, small diameter wood, branch wood, etc., which can make full use of wood resources, and the production is very flexible.

(2) Raw material preparation. The raw material is prepared by two stages of large particle preparation method. First, the wood chips with a length of about 70mm are produced through a drum chipper. Then put the wood chips into the particle machine, and adopt a 360 ° uniform distribution system, which can prevent the particle from swinging, bending, crushing and other situations in the machine, so as to obtain high-quality particle.

(3) Dry. The moisture content of dried shavings is generally about 2%, and shavings of different sizes and shavings powder should be dried to a similar moisture content level. The whole drying process is divided into three stages: pre drying, drying and material balance. A single channel dryer is used to ensure that the large shavings are intact and not damaged by the airflow.

(4) Filter. The rectangular swing screen is used for particle screening to screen particles of different sizes. The particles sorted out are divided into four categories: dust, surface particles, core particles and large particles. The surface and core shavings can be directly used for production, the powder shavings are sent to the energy plant for fuel, and the large shavings are sent to the grinder for grinding again.

(5) Sizing. The dried and screened shavings are put into a cylindrical glue mixer, which mixes raw materials such as glue, paraffin, curing agent and shavings together.

(6) Paving. The paving of high-strength particleboard is not significantly different from that of ordinary particleboard, and mechanical paving or air flow paving can be used. However, it should be noted that the disk gap should be widened properly to ensure the smooth passage of large shavings.

The high-strength particleboard has the characteristics of light weight and high strength, which can well meet the shortage of the use strength of furniture type particleboard on cabinet boards and door panels. It uses a new type of core particle shape and paving method. Compared with ordinary particle board, it not only has better performance, but also can reduce production costs and save energy.
