Guangxi, China becomes the largest wood-based panel production base in China

China News Network, Nanning, January 8 (Huang Lingyan) On the 8th, the forestry department of Guangxi introduced that in 2021, the output of wood-based panels in Guangxi will reach 51 million cubic meters, becoming the largest wood-based panel production base in China.

The timber output of Guangxi is 36 million cubic meters, ranking first in China for many consecutive years. Guangxi took the lead in cooperating with the National Development Bank and the Agricultural Development Bank of China to promote the pilot construction of the national reserve forest base. Up to now, the accumulated use of various investments has exceeded 15 billion yuan, and more than 10 million mu of national reserve forest has been built, laying a solid foundation for the wood processing industry.

The wood-based panel industry is the core industry of wood processing in Guangxi. In recent years, Guangxi’s wood-based panel industry has accelerated structural adjustment, eliminated outdated production capacity and gradually increased green products. At present, plywood, fiberboard and particleboard in Guangxi’s wood-based panel industry have considerable production capacity, and the “three residues” of raw material forests such as pine, fir and eucalyptus, from trunk to branches, bark and roots, can be completely digested.

Guangxi effectively links up the processing of wood-based panels and the import of high-quality timber, and actively undertakes the industrial transfer in the eastern region. The local government has made full use of land ports, Beibu Gulf International Gateway Port, Xijiang Inland Port, China Europe Express, etc. to actively develop links with timber export markets in the Americas, Africa, Oceania and Southeast Asia, expand high-quality timber import trade channels, increase the types and quantity of high-quality timber imports, and establish an industrial belt for processing imported timber along the coast and border of Guangxi.
