The Urgency of High end Processing of Eucalyptus Plywood and Other Artificial wood Panels in Guangxi

The Urgency of High end Processing of Eucalyptus Plywood and Other Artificial Panels in Guangxi

The wood processing and paper industry have become the most important pillars of forestry in Guangxi, with the largest contribution being the wood processing industry, which mainly utilizes eucalyptus wood.

Obviously, the biggest reliance of Guangxi’s “trillion yuan forestry” is on it – eucalyptus wood processing!

The development path of Guangxi’s eucalyptus industry has been successful.

The latest statistical data shows that there are over 15000 veneer rotary cutting processing factories, over 2300 plywood enterprises, 21 fiberboard enterprises, 23 particleboard enterprises, and 136 special-shaped plywood enterprises in the entire Guangxi region. These processing enterprises, except for a few that use pine and fir as raw materials, mostly use eucalyptus wood as raw materials.

Among numerous processing enterprises, there are 2700 forestry enterprises above designated size, 491 enterprises with a production value exceeding 100 million yuan, 13 enterprises with a production value exceeding 500 million yuan, and 8 enterprises with a production value exceeding 1 billion yuan. There are many, but small in scale and few leading enterprises.

In the 2023 list of top 100 enterprises in Guangxi, only Guangxi Forestry Group and Fenglin Wood Industry were listed, ranking 40th and 78th respectively, with revenue of 5.54 billion yuan and 2.05 billion yuan, respectively. Sanwei Home, which barely ranked 100th in the previous year, is no longer on the list.

The eucalyptus wood in Guangxi is mainly processed at the low end, with “three more and three less”, that is, there are more primary and intermediate products, and fewer terminal products; More low-end products, fewer high-end products; There are many popular products but few well-known ones. Hot selling products, including plywood and fiberboard, are still in a currency stage with low pricing, selling more and earning less.

In the wood processing industry chain, Guangxi ranks first in the production of wood raw materials and primary processing in the country; The intermediate products such as artificial boards in the second stage are at an upper middle level; The deep processing products of the third stage, such as wooden flooring, wooden furniture, and overall home furnishings, are in a backward position.

Over the past many years, the eucalyptus processing industry in Guangxi has been on the rise, with increased market sales and market share. However, the profits are meager, and it’s all about making some hard money! With the adjustment of economic structure, coupled with the cold winter in real estate, the profits of enterprises are becoming increasingly tight, facing severe tests.

In fact, Guangxi eucalyptus has been seeking high-end industrial development.

For Guangxi eucalyptus, on the basis of preliminary preparation, it will gradually promote its layout speed in the high-end market. So, Guangxi is also actively expanding towards the high-end, elongating the industrial chain, and increasing added value.

For example, optimizing the supply structure of artificial panels, supporting the development of new products such as recombined wood, wood plastic composite materials, and orthogonal glued wood, prioritizing the development of high-end furniture, smart home, whole house customization, wood structure architecture, and hardware and fabric supporting industries, extending the high-end furniture and home industry chain, and focusing on the construction of Nanning, Liuzhou, Guigang, Yulin, Hechi, guests High end furniture and home furnishing industry bases in Chongzuo and other cities, as well as Qinzhou imported wood furniture processing bases.

What Guangxi needs to do is to find its own positioning in the midst of change, continuously develop new products, enhance product added value, and establish the reputation of the “Guangxi Eucalyptus” brand, ultimately standing firm in the internal market.
