On May 10, 2023, in order to promote trade and strengthen cooperation with Chinese importers and Uruguayan exporters, a delegation from the Uruguayan Eucalyptus Exporters Association visited the Eucalyptus Wholesale Markets in Linyi, Shandong and Xuzhou, Jiangsu.

The Shandong Linyi and Jiangsu Xuzhou Eucalyptus Wholesale Markets are the first stops for importing eucalyptus, pine, HARDWOOD and many other types of Uruguayan eucalyptus to be transported to Chinese Mainland by sea. They are also important sites for the distribution of imported eucalyptus to Chinese retailers. The daily trading volume of eucalyptus exceeds 250 containers.

The delegation successively met with representatives of importers and exporters in the markets of Linyi, Shandong and Xuzhou, Jiangsu, and held lunch meetings. At the meeting, everyone exchanged views on the current market situation in China and exchanged opinions on issues of concern to importers and distributors.

Despite the impact of the epidemic on the domestic market in the first two seasons, the eucalyptus wholesale market has made good progress in promoting the circulation of eucalyptus in Uruguay. The Uruguayan Eucalyptus Exporters Association has affirmed the position of the Eucalyptus Wholesale Market as an important partner for Uruguayan eucalyptus distribution in the Chinese market. Both sides stated that they will continue to deepen cooperation and further promote the distribution of Uruguayan eucalyptus in the domestic market.

For eucalyptus wood, in addition to market distribution being crucial, logistics and customs clearance are also a crucial part of the supply chain. On May 12th, members of the delegation visited Rizhao Port in Shandong Province to gain an on-site understanding of the transportation and customs clearance of Uruguayan eucalyptus this season.
