Overview of four types of wood adhesives

Guide: The wood processing industry is the industry with the largest use of adhesives. How to select fast, environmentally friendly and good adhesive green adhesives has become a major issue for many enterprises to consider. The main products using adhesives are wood-based panels, integrated materials, impregnated paper, floors, composite doors, furniture and wood products, among which the amount of adhesives consumed by wood-based panels can be said to be the most important part.

Adhesives used for the processing of artificial panels are divided into the following categories:

  1. Urea formaldehyde resin adhesive and melamine modified urea formaldehyde resin adhesive are mainly used for fiberboard, particle board, wood plywood and fine workboard.
  2. Water based polymer isocyanate adhesive is mainly used as the integrated material.
  3. Acrylic copolymer lotion adhesive and vinyl acetate hot-melt adhesive for edge sealing are commonly used in the manufacture of composite doors, furniture and wood products. 1、 Now the whole household market is pursuing rapid delivery, so the key is to improve the treatment and quality of the base material. As a wood adhesive, urea formaldehyde adhesive has excellent bonding performance, good process operation performance, colorless and other characteristics, and is the main adhesive type of indoor bonding materials. However, urea formaldehyde resin has the following problems: 1. The boiling resistance of bonding products is poor, which is not suitable for bonding of building structural materials. 2. There is formaldehyde problem, which is harmful to human body. In the face of a series of new national policies on formaldehyde, many enterprises are also paying more attention to environment-friendly adhesives. At present, the technology of environment-friendly, low formaldehyde and urea formaldehyde releasing resin adhesive is mature and widely used in wood-based panel production. 2、 Although the panel glue on the market can meet the D4 standard for ordinary wood, it is difficult to meet the requirements for the splicing of high hardness and high-density wood, such as rosewood, red sandalwood, rosewood, ash, pinus tabulaeformis, carol, and red twigs. The reasons are as follows: 1. The water resistance is not enough. Once the weather is wet, the wood will crack. 2. The high temperature resistance is also very poor, and cracks occur as soon as you enter the curing room. 3. The error of working temperature and curing time causes cracking, deformation and displacement. 4. The hardness and density are too high, and it is difficult for different splicing adhesives to meet the requirements. Therefore, in order to ensure a better adhesive effect, the following points should be paid attention to: 1. The physical and chemical properties of glue should be tested before gluing. 2. The packaging barrel shall be kept sealed to prevent the glue from contacting with air and water, so as to prevent the glue from being polluted and invalid. 3. Different temperatures and pressures need to be adjusted and changed. In addition to the above-mentioned wood glue, panel glue and veneer glue, it can be said that the use of glue is essential in the whole wood product processing process. If you do not pay attention to the quality of glue, formaldehyde will inevitably exceed the standard in the final product. 3、 The formation process of veneer adhesive bonding is very complex, which is mainly caused by the wetting and adhesion of the adhesive on the wood surface. However, no matter how strict the operation is in the process of veneering, the problem cannot be completely avoided. Once there is an irreparable veneering problem, most manufacturers can only discard it, which wastes labor, materials and costs, and also loses the trust of consumers and customers. How to solve this pain point? The importance of veneer glue is reflected again, which can be effectively prevented from the source. Now there is a repairable veneer adhesive on the market. With this glue, problems such as blistering, glue penetration, edge warping, etc. caused by environmental or technological problems can be repaired by re ironing with a wet towel+electric iron. (1) When the facing base material is concave or convex or the density board is planed and milled, it must be coated with glue twice, and the second coat of glue shall be applied after the first coat of glue is transparent. (2) When gluing, it shall be even to ensure the wetting and avoid bubbles. (3) Generally, wood veneer glue should not be used below 13 ℃. If the ambient temperature is lower than 13 ℃, use an electric iron to heat the glue after it is distributed and before the glue is dry. 4、 For the current market and enterprise demand, we have some high-quality enterprises that will use formaldehyde free wood adhesives. In the process of processing, furniture manufacturers can produce more environmentally friendly products. It can be said that good adhesives not only provide environmental protection, but also system solutions. The concept of “formaldehyde free wood glue” not only ensures the addition of aldehyde 0 in the production process, but also screens environment-friendly formaldehyde free raw materials through multiple comparisons to eliminate the addition of formaldehyde from the source. This not only fills in the lack of “aldehyde free voice” in the adhesive industry, but also receives attention from many industries and fields such as wooden doors and furniture.
