Vietnam’s timber processing and export industry has production advantages, but its market development needs to be improved. It is time for enterprises and cooperatives to implement a series of large-scale trade promotion and timber industry promotion activities.

This is what experts emphasized in the press release of the Ho Chi Minh Wood Products and Wood Furniture Exhibition held on the afternoon of February 9.

Du Chunli, president of Vietnam Wood and Forest Products Association, believes that Vietnam’s timber processing and export industry has achieved double-digit growth over the years, but Vietnam’s timber industry needs to expand the scale of the world market to maintain sustainable growth. However, the current situation is that enterprises focus on production links and build more large factories while ignoring activities such as trade promotion and close connection with various markets. Because of this, Vietnamese timber enterprises are in a passive state when the market demand falls. Therefore, in order to achieve sustainable development, enterprises and associations need to make appropriate investment in trade promotion, promotion, information updating, supply capacity, etc.

Li Huangcai, deputy director of the Trade Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, suggested that associations and enterprises should maintain cooperation with the central departments, agencies and local governments, give priority to trade promotion activities for timber industry enterprises, Vietnam’s professional exhibitions and trade fairs, and strive to achieve international scale and standards, with the aim of improving the status of Vietnam’s timber processing industry. At the same time, Vietnam National Pavilion is set up at wood products and handicraft exhibitions, trade fairs and international trade promotion activities in key and potential markets such as the United States, the European Union, Russia, Japan, South Korea and China, so that Vietnamese wood enterprises can participate in them.

At the press conference, Nguyen Kuo-ching, President of the Ho Chi Minh Wood Processing and Handicrafts Association, said that the Ho Chi Minh Wood Products and Wood Furniture Exhibition would be held from February 22 to 25. This is the most important highlight in the timber industry cooperation, and is expected to bring positive results by various enterprises, attracting many visitors to visit and conduct trade and investment cooperation.

The scale of the exhibition is expected to have 1600 booths, attracting the participation of major Vietnamese exporters and producers. The organizing committee has carried out exhibition publicity activities to 20 countries through the media and Vietnam’s Foreign Business Office system. Up to now, nearly 1000 companies from traditional export markets such as the United States and Europe and new markets such as the Middle East and India have signed up.

In addition to displaying and promoting products, the Ho Chi Minh Wooden Products and Wooden Furniture Exhibition also focused on trade docking, factory visits and seminars to help enterprises and partners have the opportunity to understand market information, find customers, improve production capacity and promote cooperation. The exhibition will show the diversity and vitality of local production industries.
